I am a Professor of Communication Studies at UNC Charlotte and the Interim Chair of the Writing, Rhetoric, and Digitial Studies Department. My program of research examines advocacy and social change in the areas of food, health, corporate social responsibility, and public communication. My research primarily uses food as a lens to explore intersections between rhetoric and identity. I frequently study how advocacy and communication strategies shape culture and policy around issues related to food and health. I teach courses about Southern foodways, rhetoric, and public advocacy.
