I am a Professor in the Department of Communication Studies. My work focuses on intersections between sport and politics, with particular emphasis on health, the body, race, religion, and public memory. I have published work on the head trauma crisis in football, the medical and regulatory infrastructures behind performance enhancement, and the politics of bodily modification (e.g. prosthetics) in disability sport. I have developed an undergraduate Sport, Media, and Culture course (COMM 3052, also cross-listed with AMST) around these and other topics.
